В рецензии представлен анализ концептуального содержания коллективной монографии «История ислама в России» в сравнении с вышедшими недавно подобными же изданиями. Наряду с положительными моментами (качеством материала и полиграфии, особенностями исторического взгляда авторов, целостностью общей задумки) выделены и недостатки. Опора на советскую историко-религиоведческую школу и её представителей обернулась подменой истории ислама, демонстрацией политической истории мусульманских народов России. Описательность, сухость и аморфность изложения в ущерб источниковой конкретности и неизменной духовности обесценили представленный материал. Несмотря на имеющиеся недостатки, данное издание представляет собой серьёзный и полезный для разных категорий читателей труд. Монография подкреплена библиографическим аппаратом, снабжена иллюстрациями, кратким содержанием на английском и арабском языках.

The review presents an analysis of the conceptual framework of the collective monograph “History of Islam in Russia” in a comparative dimension with similar recently published works. Along with the strong aspects of the monograph (the quality of the material and printing, the peculiarities of the historical view of the authors, the integrity of the general idea), some shortcomings are also highlighted. The reliance on the Soviet historical and religious school and its representatives turned into a substitution of the history of Islam for a demonstration of the political history of the Muslim peoples of Russia. Descriptiveness, dryness and amorphousness of style instead of focusing on source specificity and unchanging spirituality have somewhat devalued the presented material. Despite the shortcomings, this edition is a serious and useful work for different categories of readers. The monograph is supplemented with a serious bibliographic apparatus, provided with illustrations and a summary in English and Arabic.
